Attendees will be able to take part in person or online

The 11th International Aquarium Congress (IAC), which is scheduled to take place from 30 October to 4 November 2022 at Nausicaá in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, will be a hybrid event this year, organisers have announced.

Attendees will be welcomed in person to Nausicaá for a face-to-face event, while those who cannot travel to the venue will be able to take part online, with a virtual meeting being held at the same time. This will feature the same content.

Early bird rates

IAC provides an opportunity for aquarium professionals to connect, to share insights and best practice, and discuss the goals that the sector is working towards.

Early bird rates of €570 are available for the event until 30 June. From 1 July, tickets will cost €670. Attendees can choose whether to attend in person or to take part in the virtual conference. Those who have already paid for their virtual congress ticket and wish to attend the face-to-face event at Nausicaa can complete their registration here.

There is still time to submit presentation abstracts ahead of the conference. The deadline for submissions is 15 June and papers are welcome on this year’s themes, as below. All abstracts must be submitted using this online form.

The key theme of this year’s IAC will explore how aquariums engage at the scientific, societal and political levels by involving audiences in their day-to-day activities, research actions and conservation programmes.

The event will also explore eight secondary themes:

  • Technological developments
  • Reproduction
  • Animal care
  • Conservation
  • Scenographic design and production of cultural and scientific content
  • Education, raising awareness, mobilisation
  • The role of aquariums in society
  • Adapting to a global pandemic situation

The programme, which can be viewed here, features expert keynote speakers and a range of presentations. Blooloop is proud to be the media partner for IAC 2022.
