The PDZA has issued an RFQ for architects and engineering teams specialising in zoo exhibit design.
Zoo designers have until 1:00 pm on Friday 28th July, 2017 to submit their applications.Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is a 107-year-old organisation situated in 27 acres in PointDefiance Park in Tacoma,Washington.
The current Arctic Tundra exhibit occupies approximately 4.5 acres in thenorthern part of the Zoo. The focus of this project will be on the 2.5 acres Polar Bear/ Arctic Fox area. Over the past thirty years, the Arctic Tundra exhibit has been one of the starexhibits at PDZA.
The project will include upgrades to theexisting Arctic Tundra exhibit bringing it into compliance with the ACM for exhibitingpolar bears; facilities for holding two adult bears with dens and other features sufficient to allow breeding and birthing of cubs.
PDZA is looking for a qualified team of professionals experienced in thedesign of live animal exhibits to provide a predesign study. The initial assignment will be to conduct a predesignstudy to establish a detailed project scope and budget. Following satisfactorycompletion of the predesign study, PDZA may request additional design development and construction services.
