The S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa’s Marine Life Park has been named as the world’s largest aquarium by Guinness World Records. The aquarium also holds the record for the world’s largest acrylic panel.
The first marine animal was introduced into the S.E.A. Aquarium on 22 June 2012 and the Aquarium is now home to more than 80, 000 animals of over 800 species, housed in 42.8 million litres of water.
The Open Ocean zone houses the world’s largest acrylic panel (36 metres wide by 8.3 metres tall by 700 mm thick and weighing more than 250, 000 kg).
Currently comprising 10 zones with 49 habitats, the Aquarium plans to increase the number of marine animals to 100, 000 and include hammerhead sharks and bottlenose dolphins.
