Saigon Safari has been given the go ahead.

TTR Weekly reports that Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee have approved the project.

According to Vietnam Net, Saigon Safari was originally to be developed by Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens Company, work started on clearing the 460ha site in Cu Chi Districtin 2004.

Following years of delays the project was handed over to Vingroup in 2015.  New plans were put forward in 2015 to develop Saigon Safari with an investment of over USD500 million.

Saigon Safari is expected to attract 3000 visitors a day and facilities will include playgrounds, a golf course and an onsite hotel.  Work is expected to start in July this year.

Vingroup operates the Vinpearl Safari on Phuc Quoc Island which opened in December 2015.

Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands is reported to have announced a plan to build a 490ha safari park to the north of the resort town Da Lat to boost tourism.
