St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station sets opening date for Christmas Day

St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station has set its opening date for Christmas Day (December 25, 2019). Tickets are now on sale for the attraction, which will be open for extended holiday hours.

The aquarium will open for extended holiday season hours from December 26, 2019 through January 4, 2020 from 10am until 9pm.

From January 5, it will be open regular hours Sunday through Thursday from 10am until 6pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 9pm.

“We are thrilled to be able to invite the public into our new home for the holidays,” said Tami Brown, executive director of the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station.

“This is a great way to start a new family tradition by experiencing the wonders of aquatic life at the aquarium,” added Brown.

The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is part of a $187 million family entertainment complex in downtown St. Louis, Missouri.

Other attractions at Union Station include the St. Louis Wheel, mini golf, a ropes course and the A-Maze-Ing Discoveries Mirror Maze.

The aquarium and other attractions are located within the National Historic Landmark train shed at Union Station, which opened in 1894.

St. Louis Aquarium will cover 120,000 square feet over two storeys. It will house more than 13,000 aquatic animals from fresh water and marine environments globally.

Tickets will give visitors access to all of the aquarium’s galleries, exhibits and interactive experiences, including a 3D virtual reality (VR) train ride.

Galleries include ‘Confluence Gallery’, which focuses on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, and ‘Global Rivers’, with guests learning about the riverways of South America, Africa and Southeast Asia.

‘Changing Rivers’ will feature river otters and an interactive water table, while ‘The Ocean Shore’ boasts sharks and stingrays.

As the name suggests, ‘Shark Canyon’ will feature more than 80 sharks and rays, and ‘The Deep’ is home to jellyfish, an octopus and sea dragons.

The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is operated by ZoOceanarium Group and designed by PGAV Destinations.
