Politician and the Singapore Parliament’s 10th Speaker, Tan Chuan-Jin, has been appointed Deputy Chairman of Mandai Park Holdings (MPH).
Mandai Park Holdings is in the process of transforming Mandai into an eco-tourism zone that will encompass the existing Night Safari, River Safari and the Singapore Zoo.
As part of the scheme, Jurong Bird Park is to be relocated and reimagined. Further pipeline plans include the creation of a brand new rainforest park, along with a nature-themed indoor attraction.
In October, premium resort and hotel chain, Banyan Tree Holdings confirmed that it will be developing a luxury resort in the region.
The MPH board is chaired by S Dhanabalan. He also serves as Chairman of Temasek Trust, and is a member of the Council of Presidential Advisers. In addition he is a member of the Presidential Council for Minority Rights.
Earlier this year, Chong Siak Ching, the National Gallery’s chief executive, was also appointed to the MPH board.
Tan Chuan-Jin took on the role of Parliamentary Speaker in September. He replaced former Speaker and current President, Halimah Yacob.
