Opening in June, Montreal's new observation wheel, La Grande Roue de Montreal,will give visitors abird's eye view of the city, generate tourism and boost business.
Currently under consctructionon Île Bonsecours in the city's Old Port, the wheel has been designed and will be operated by a private company,La Grande Roue de Montreal. At 60 metres, it will be the highest wheel in Canada and the third highest in North America.

Next to Montreal'sSt. Lawrence River, the Old Port ofMontrealis Quebec'smost visitedattraction.The wheel will occupy a prime locationas the Old Port attracts over six million visitors a year.Regardless of the weather, the wheel will operate year-round from 10am to 11pm. Visitors will be able to see for up to 28km.Each of the 42 temperature-controlled gondolas will seat up to 8 people.The ride will comprisethree revolutions over15 minutes.
Because of the expectedboost to both tourism and business LaGrande Roue de Montreal has received enthusiast support from the city.Tourism Montreal, the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, and the Société de Développement Commercial (SDC) du Vieux-Montréalhaveare all behind the project.
