UK theme park Chessington World of Adventures has launched a new spooky soundtrack for Halloween 2025, Symphony of Screams.

The soundtrack is made exclusively from Chessington guests' screams, which were recorded on the Mandrill Mayhem and Vampire coasters.

It's described as a "science-backed, mood-boosting scream-phony", but is also part of a project to examine the potential benefits of screaming.

For this, Chessington teamed up with psychologist Honey Langcaster-James.

“Thrilling rides, like roller coasters, can leave us feeling closer to each other, happier and more alive," Langcaster-James said.

"When you scream on an exhilarating ride, your body is flooded with adrenaline and endorphins, so you can experience a natural buzz."

Research has shown that screaming on attractions can strengthen social bonds and reduce stress levels, per a press release.

The benefits of fear-inducing entertainment

Langcaster-James said fear-inducing entertainment has "well-documented psychological benefits for creativity, stress reduction, and wellbeing".

“Shared fear and relief create powerful memories and bring people closer," she said.

"That’s why couples, families and friends so often remember a Halloween scare night, prank, or adrenaline-inducing extreme experience as one of their most joyful times together."

The Symphony of Screams soundtrack is available to listen to and download from SoundCloud here.

Chessington’s Howl’o’ween event is now taking place at the park daily through 2 November.

The experience includes new shows, theme park rides at dusk, a scare zone, immersive experiences, and more.

Chessington operator Merlin Entertainments has revealed that Halloween is becoming a key revenue driver for the company.

The month of October is now competing with the summer season, accounting for around a fifth of Merlin's yearly profit (via the Independent).
