Sphere in Las Vegas has celebrated its first anniversary and the Fourth of July with the launch of a new immersive audio feature.
The new $2.3 billionSpherevenue is covered with the largest LED screen in the world, called the Exosphere. This boasts nearly 580,000 square feet of fully programmable LED panelling.
Now, Sphere has added the 'XO Audio' element, where music is synced to the Exosphere's content to enhance the multi-sensory experience.
Additionally, Sphere has launched 'XO Stream', an official livestream where fans can watch the Exosphere 27/4.
Sphere's Fourth of July event included more than 500 dronesin the shape of fireworks and stars to complement the art appearing on the Exosphere.
The show was created and developed by Sphere Studios, the production house of Sphere Entertainment creatingimmersive experiencesfor the spherical venue.
Sphere put on its first Exosphere show last year to mark the Fourth of July. The inside of Sphere opened as a unique entertainment destination in October with a U2 performance.
Also on offer within are immersive experiences and original productions using state-of-the-art technologies.
Multi-sensory experiences at Sphere
“The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard – it is living architecture, and unlike anything that exists anywhere in the world,” saidGuy Barnett, Sphere Entertainment's former SVP of brand strategy and creative development.
Last month, Sphere Entertainment promotedJennifer Koesterto president and chief operating officer, and Sphere Studios hired Hollywood veteranCarolyn Blackwood.
"Our team at Sphere Studios is working closely with artists, brands, and technologists to bring the next generation of immersive entertainment experiences to audiences in Las Vegas and beyond," Koester said.
Earlier this year, Sphere Entertainmentwithdrew its planning applicationfor aSphere venuein Stratford, east London.
