Activists have hung a photo in the Louvre museum in Paris of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being driven from a police station after his arrest.

The British political campaign group Everyone Hates Elon put the image on a wall of the French institution on Sunday (22 February). It was on display for around an hour before being taken down.

Beneath the framed photo was a card that read: "He's Sweating Now", and 2026 below.

Alongside an Instagram post of the image in the Louvre, Everyone Hates Elon wrote: "Hanging Prince Andrew's arrest photo in the Louve."

In another Instagram post, the campaign group wrote: "Another bad day for the Louvre's security [department]", seemingly referring to last year's robbery, during which jewels valued at €88m were stolen from the museum.

In a message to ITV News, the group wrote: "They say: 'Hang it in the Louvre'. So we did.

"We wanted to show the former Prince Andrew how the world will remember him – by hanging this iconic arrest photo in one of the world's most famous museums.

"Let's hope this is just the beginning."

The original photo of Mountbatten-Windsor was taken by the Reuters photographer Phil Noble after the ex-prince's arrest on Thursday (19 February) at the Sandringham estate on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

He later spent 11 hours in police custody at Aylsham police station in Norfolk. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Everyone Hates Elon says it is "taking on billionaires and their politician mates".

As for the Louvre, the past year has been challenging for the institution, its latest setback being a water leak that caused damage to a 19th-century ceiling painting.
