The Motown Museum in Detroit has released an animated fly-through video of its new 40,000-square-foot building – the third, final and largest phase of its multi-year expansion project.
Set to open in summer 2027, the new building is being built behind Hitsville U.S.A – the original Motown Records headquarters.
Pictured in the fly-through video are the expansion's lobby, exhibit areas, listening room café, state-of-the-art theatre, retail spaces, and more.
Via the Detroit Free Press, the Motown Museum's chairwoman and CEO Robin Terry said the new video provides a look at "the movement, energy and emotion that will define this next chapter of Motown Museum".
"As construction moves forward, this preview reflects the incredible support and shared vision of our donors, supporters and believers in Motown’s enduring legacy, bringing this project to life in a way that will inspire future generations through the spirit and impact of Motown,” she said.
The Motown Museum's $75 million expansion project has been carried out in three phases over several years.

The first phase was Hitsville Next, an educational and creative hub located next to the main museum building. The second phase included a new outdoor plaza along with restoration work on the Hitsville house.
When the project is completed, the Motown Museum campus will be a 50,000-square-foot, world-class entertainment and education destination.
The museum has raised $72m toward its $75m fundraising goal.
The Motown Museum previously unveiled two immersive exhibits as part of the final phase of the project.
