The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Motown Museum have received huge donations reports Detroit Free Press.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) received a $5 million donation to the operating endowment from board member Bonnie Ann Larson.

The DIA will establish a Bonnie Ann Larson Modern European Masters Series to support the Museum’s collection.

The Motown Museum received a $1 million donation from the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation.

The money will go into the Motown Museum’s expansion fund for the $50 million transformation of the West Grand Boulevard site.  To date more than $10 million has been raised towards the project.

Work on the expansion is expected to start towards the end of this year and complete in 2019.
