The International Museum Construction Congress (IMCC), an event that brings together museum and architecture professionals to explore sustainability, planning, project management, construction, renovation, and expansion of museums, has announced that IMCC 2026 will take place from 24–28 October in Munich, Germany.
The IMCC audience includes museum leaders, architects, project managers, project directors, museum leadership, facilities and security administrators, business development, finance and procurement directors, collections and exhibition directors, and social media directors.
IMCC Munich 2026 spans three days of keynotes, fireside chats, case studies, and panel discussions, hosted at venues across Munich, including the Residenz Museum and the Deutsches Museum.
The agenda includes pre-congress field trips on 24 October, providing behind-the-scenes tours of Munich's cultural institutions, as well as a workshop on early planning stages for museum building and exhibitions.
There will also be networking breaks and evening receptions during the event.
Attendance will be capped at 250 delegates to ensure a highly engaged and productive networking environment.
FRAMES by IMCC
After the main congress, FRAMES by IMCC will be held on Wednesday 28 October.
Limited to 50 attendees and co-chaired by Elisabetta Tovo and David Greenbaum of Gensler, it offers a curated architectural and cultural experience that examines how cities influence and are influenced by their architecture, institutions, and civic spaces.
For Munich 2026, FRAMES shifts focus from individual buildings to viewing the city as a cultural ecosystem.
Aimed at museum professionals, architects, cultural leaders, and curious urban observers, it offers a deeper understanding of the city through its architecture, people, institutions, and ideas.
