Dolly Parton has revealed plans to open a second museum “within the next couple of years” at a ‘Dolly Center’ complex in Nashville.
Parton already runs the Chasing Rainbows Museum, which is located in Dollywood, a 160-acre theme park owned by the country musician and Herschend Family Entertainment.
“I’m going to have a museum here [in Nashville] pretty soon, within the next couple of years,” Parton told the Tennessean.
“We have the museum at Dollywood, of course, but I would love to have something here since this is really my home,” she added.
“And I may have a restaurant or a bar and grill. Right now though, I’ve got so many things going. I can do without that for the moment. But someday I will have a business here.”
The museum, according to Parton, might be part of “a larger complex, like a ‘Dolly Center’ or something that includes the museum”.
“That’s kind of where my thinking is,” she said.
The Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood is closed for the 2022 season as it is reimagining the “future possibilities for the attraction”.
“We are excited about telling Dolly’s story in a new way in the future; we will share additional details about the experience at a later date,” the website says.
Country musician’s second museum
Dollywood is currently building the HeartSong Lodge & Resort, the first project in a $500m investment plan over the next decade.
Last month, Dollywood and Vekoma Rides, the Dutch roller coaster specialist, unveiled the ride vehicles for the park’s new $25 million Big Bear Mountain, opening in spring 2023.
Dollywood’s longest coaster to date will be a family-friendly attraction, located in the park’s newest area, Wildwood Grove.
“This ride is going to be a game changer for us at Dollywood for several reasons – including the fact it’s the largest coaster we’ve ever built and our first ride with on-board audio,” said Dollywood president Eugene Naughton.
