Leading creator of interactive museum tours, Imagineear, pulled out all the stops to deliver a multimedia guide in just two days for the LOEWE Craft Prize Exhibition at London’s Design Museum.
The exhibition opened on Friday and showcases the work of thirty finalists from 18 countries.
Imagineear’s multimedia guide features interviews with the artists which were recorded just two days earlier. The finalists were interviewed in their native languages – Japanese, Korean, Italian, French, German and Spanish. The prize ceremony and post-ceremony prize-winner interview were also captured with live edits taking place on site up to 5pm. Then it was a race to complete post-production, subtitles, coding, testing and uploading of the finished guide onto Imagineear’s MPti™ devices.
This year’s winner was Scottish ceramicist, Jennifer Lee, with her work Pale, Shadowed Speckled Traces, Fading Ellipse, Bronze Specks, Tilted Shelf (2017). Special commendations were also awarded to Japanese potter, Takuro Kuwata and self-taught textile sculptor, Simone Pheulpin.
Raising the bar for delivering ‘instant media’
The exhibition guide incorporates video of each object filmed in motion on a revolving turntable. This enables visitors to appreciate the work in a dynamic context, adding another dimension to the static museum displays.
“Highlighting the speed and flexibility that can be delivered by Imagineear, we prepared the shell of the multimedia guide in advance,” states Alexander Nugée, Imagineear’s Project Manager.
“With sufficient focus on communication and roles, and large enough teams in the onsite and back-office studios, we were able to accommodate raw film shot the day before opening, working to two clients – the Design Museum and Loewe – and in a ferociously demanding brand environment. The result raises the bar on delivering ‘instant media’ to add to the visitor experience on site.”

Visitors access the guide via the advanced and robust MPti™ touchscreen device, designed, manufactured and maintained by Imagineear. A key element is the system’s ability to collect daily visitor data remotely from the MPti™ devices via dynamically enabled wifi.
The LOEWE Craft Prize exhibition at the Design Museum runs from 4th May to 17th June 2018.
