The company worked on the new multi-faith campus in Abu Dhabi

Lord Cultural Resources, the world’s largest cultural professional practice, recently provided its expertise to the Abrahamic Family House project, a multi-faith campus opening on 1 March 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

“Lord Cultural Resources is honoured to be a part of the Abrahamic Family House project,” says a statement from the firm. “This groundbreaking multi-faith campus brings together a mosque, church, and synagogue in one location, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to be inspired by interfaith coexistence. The campus is designed to foster mutual respect and understanding between different faiths and promote peace in the region. We are proud to have contributed our expertise to this exceptional project.”

Promoting peaceful coexistence

Aiming to promote peaceful coexistence for future generations, this remarkable development was named after Abraham, the forefather of the three monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It features a mosque, church and synagogue and is designed to promote interfaith respect and understanding.

Lord Cultural Resources planned the visitor centre, and the architect was David Adjaye.

Marcy Grossman, former Canadian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, says:

“When the UAE announced in 2019 the building of the Abrahamic Family House – a mosque, a church, and a synagogue all sharing the same campus, I knew that this was going to be transformational for Jewish life in the UAE and the world.

“As Canada’s then-Ambassador, it was also a proud moment as several Canadians were at the forefront of its creation. The University of British Columbia grad Hugo Blomfield was the master planner and project manager for Miral, the builder. Toronto native, Gail Lord [president and co-founder of Lord Cultural Resources] designed the welcome centre that unites the three houses of worship. And Montreal-born, Rabbi Yehuda Sarna was an advisor throughout and is now the Chief Rabbi.”

Lord Cultural Resources also recently announced that it will lead a presentation at this week’s Museums Association of the Caribbean Conference in Nassau, Bahamas. The event, which is focused on the theme “The Power of Museums,” will provide an opportunity to network with professionals in the sector and learn about the most recent trends and best practices.
