In partnership with Musealia, a global leader in the creation of touring exhibitions, and the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Memorial and Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is showing Auschwitz. Not Long Ago. Not Far Away. It has already been visited by 80,000 people since it opened a few months ago, and has been deeply resonating with the Canadian audience.
The exhibition, which will run at ROM until 1 September 2025, brings to light the painful truths and difficult stories of Auschwitz.
Hosted at one of North America’s leading institutions, the exhibition’s presence at ROM signifies a profound recognition of Musealia’s work, enhancing its mission as it continues on its global path: a dedication to preserving historical memory through exhibitions that are both emotionally impactful and meticulously researched.

A multidisciplinary approach
Every project adopts a multidisciplinary approach, merging academic rigour, engaging storytelling, and unique artefacts, all backed by extensive research and collaborations with institutions and museums globally. This effort also includes curatorial partnerships with prominent experts, such as world-renowned historians led by chief curator Dr. Robert Jan van Pelt.
Equally important to this work is the thoughtful adaptation of each exhibition to fit the cultural and historical context of its host city. “At the heart of this project is the idea of bringing the history of Auschwitz, in all its complexity, to the world,” explained Luis Ferreiro, director of Musealia.
United by their shared mission of helping individuals comprehend the past to better understand the present, and inspired by Elie Wiesel’s statement—“Whoever listens to a witness, becomes a witness”—the ROM has initiated a thought-provoking campaign urging audiences to become witnesses.
This campaign encourages visitors to engage deeply with the shared stories, fostering critical reflection and ensuring these narratives are never forgotten.
Earlier this month, Musealia launched its exhibition, The Berlin Wall. A World Divided, at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Trocadéro, Paris, following a successful premiere in Madrid.
