Early rising gym bunnies can now join The Museum Workout at The Met for aerobics and stretching surrounded by 5, 000 years of art.

Wearing sequinned dresses and tennis shoes, Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass lead an exercise class on a very different kind of tour of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Artist and author Maira Kalman has curated the artwork visited on the tour route and the workout soundtrack, combining her own voice with Disco and Motown hits.

Monica Bill Barnes & Company is a contemporary American dance company that “brings dance where it does not belong.

The Museum Workout takes place at 8.30 am before the museum opens to the public and runs until the end of February.

First Museum Hack now Museum Workouts. Will this energetic new way to spend time in museums catch on?
