The Shipping Monster, a provider of logistics and transportation to touring exhibitions, attractions and the entertainment industry, has announced its partnership with THEMUSEUM | The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED exhibition, transporting priceless displays from Winnipeg to Halifax, Canada, using a bespoke green alternative to standard trucking.
UNZIPPED comprises unique pieces on exhibit from a variety of artists and brands including Andy Warhol, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Dior, and Martin Scorsese. It celebrates The Stones’ creative partnerships in music, art and design, fashion and film.
More than 300 unique items from the Rolling Stones’ private collections are on display. This exhibition features classic costumes, posters, record covers, rare audio and video clips, personal journals, instruments, and stage designs.
Lowering carbon footprints
The display was shipped in 10 multimodal containers, each measuring 53 feet. The containers were configured to pair with Shipping Monster’s North American touring trucks, with wood floors, e-track, load bars, and straps.
For this project, only the first and last miles undertaken on the road, with the remaining 2,200 miles of the trip were completed by rail, significantly reducing environmental impact. Nearly two tonnes of carbon emissions were avoided thanks to advanced planning in the project.
The Shipping Monster is a specialised logistics provider that was founded in 2009 and provides the live events, attractions, and entertainment sector with shipping, storage, and production management solutions.
The firm is dedicated to finding eco-friendly alternatives for the museum, travelling exhibitions, and attractions industries wherever it is practical, and it is constantly looking for ways to reduce or eliminate the carbon emissions of its clients.
The Shipping Monster founder and CEO Robert Aspinall says: “We are excited to be a partner to this exceptional exhibit, and we welcomed the challenge of creating a green solution for this cross-country delivery.”
