The UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre will be located next to the Houses of Parliament, in Victoria Tower Gardens.
The structure will honour victims and survivors of Nazi persecution, educate future generations and serve as a powerful statement of the UK’s values as a nation.
An international design competition was launched by the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation in September 2016 to “create an emotionally powerful and sensitively designed memorial”.
Ninety-two teams entered the competition, and the shortlist of ten have been invited to submit concept designs.
These designs are being displayed publicly at a number of venues across the UK, as well as online.
Competition organizer Malcolm Reading Consultants and the Memorial Foundation are inviting the public to send feedback which will “play a crucial role” in the jury’s final decision.
The ten finalists include Anish Kapoor and Zaha Hadid Architects and Foster + Partners.
The winning entry is expected to be announced in Summer 2017.
