Golf It R&A

Greenspan Projects Ltd., a creative design and build specialist for the visitor attraction industry, has announced that it will be working on a new community attraction in Glasgow, in collaboration with The R&A.

Golf It! will be an indoor and outdoor attraction that offers something for visitors of all ages and abilities, with three adventure golf courses, a family putting green, a double-decker driving range, simulators, golf equipment libraries, tennis courts and a nursery. There will also be street food provided by The Big Feed.

Making golf more inclusive

Greenspan Projects will be building three adventure golf courses for the attraction, which is set to open in Summer 2023. Speaking about the project, a spokesperson from Greenspan says:

“We love building relationships with partners who are as equally passionate about adventure golf. We are therefore delighted to be working on the build of the three adventure golf courses for Golf It! and can’t wait to see the positive impact this venue will have on transcending the game and introducing it to communities who may not have had access to it before.”

The project marks a significant financial investment by The R&A towards its mission of making golf more accessible and inclusive.

Martin Slumbers, chief executive of The R&A, says:

“Golf It! is an ambitious project and fantastic opportunity for residents of Glasgow and visitors to the city to be introduced to the sport in a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable environment. The range of features at Golf It! makes this a destination like no other. We want this to be a place where everyone from this great city and further afield can feel at home.

“Golf It! will enable people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to be a part of a community-driven facility that levels the playing field and provides new pathways into golf. It marks a significant commitment by The R&A to re-establish the sport’s roots in the heart of Scotland and take golf into communities that may never have seen it as a viable, family-friendly activity before.

“In that regard, we want Golf It! to be an exemplar format for working hand in hand with the communities it serves. We are excited about getting the facility ready for its opening next summer.”

Last month, Greenspan Projects presented a new project for Homestead Marketplace: a new 18-hole adventure/mini golf course surrounded by 16 high rope challenges. The company also worked on the newly-opened adventure golf course at Zip World Llechwedd in Wales, which is the world’s first underground adventure golf course set in a cave.
