KidZania has been recognised as “2013 Best Franchise Abroad” at the 17th Mexican Franchise Association (AMF) Annual Awards, held on March 5th, 2014. This is the fifth time that KidZania has won the award and the third consecutive year.
KidZania teaches kids about the world of work through role play, at the same time providing a publicity medium for their corporate partners and enhancing their local communities.
In a 2011 interview with Blooloop Xavier López Ancona, founder and CEO, said of KidZania, “I want it to be a very good product. The thing I most like about KidZania is really that we’re empowering kids to be better citizens. We’re here for the long term, not just to grow and sell. My dream is to make a difference doing good and doing it well: performance with a purpose – KidZania can combine business with doing good.”
KidZania currently has 15 “metropolises” in 12 different markets with 11 more in the development stages including KidZania Istanbul which is set to open in April 2014.
A statement from KidZania about the award said, “KidZania would like to ZanK all of its franchisees and industry partners for their trust, as well as the effort, passion and commitment of our more than 6, 000 collaborators and associates across the globe. This marks yet another important milestone for our Nation, which will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.”
