Miniature Model Attractions to Open in Japan: Small World Okinawa and Toyko

Small World Inc., are to create new miniature model attractions in Japan – Little Ambassadors’ Small World Okinawa with Ryubo Ltd. and another Small World in Toyko.

The attraction, which is planned to open in 2022, will feature exhibitions of miniature models of famous cities around the world as well as popular anime characters and also interaction with visitor’s smartphones.

The 3,000 sq. m attraction in Okinawa will also include retail and dining facilities.  A site will be confirmed by the end of the year.  The facility, which is expected to attraction 1 million visitors a year, will be operated by Ryubo group company Ryubo Shoji Ltd.

Ryubo will be promoting the new attraction with an event at its department store in Naha.

Small World are also planning another ÂĄ50 million miniature attraction in Tokyo. It is hoped that the 7,000 sq. m venue will attract 2 million visitors annually.  The Japan Times reports that the Tokyo attraction will employ an innovative application of internet technology.

Another miniature attraction, Gulliver’s Gate – the largest display of miniatures in the United States – is due open in May New York’s Time Square.
