Project with The Evergrande Group opens after delays caused by a worldwide pandemic

Walltopia, a world leader in the climbing and adventure & leisure industries, has announced that an ambitious project which was delayed by the pandemic has finally been able to open to guests.

The company’s creation completed for Evergrande represents an Adventure Hub, planned and built by the active entertainment manufacturer with a footprint of 2200 square metres and a height of 52 feet.

Among its features are ocean-themed ropes courses, fun walls, and an artificial cave, alongside an adventure trail and an elevated children’s playground. Adrenaline seekers can also enjoy Walltopia’s Rollglider, an aerial track attraction.

Negotiating obstacles

Walltopia’s latest project can be found at Ocean Flower Island, an artificial archipelago just off the north coast of Danzhou, China. The wider project, built by the Evergrande Group, consists of three islets with a total area of 381 hectares and has seen 160 billion RMB (US$24 billion) invested.

The Walltopia Adventure Hub is part of the project’s Central Park feature and saw the company collaborate with Evergrande for nearly six years. During this time they worked with experts in design, engineering, operations and project management.

The design and engineering components took six months to complete, but as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the execution phase (production, logistics and assembly) was extended from six months to almost a year for completion.

Cveta Mihaylova, sales & business development at Walltopia China says “Ocean Flower Adventure Hub is an ambitious complex attraction comprised of interconnected themed facilities.

“When you enter, the first thing you see are the themed sea animal elements, and you find yourself in the low-level kids’ area. As you climb higher, you discover more and more activities for the different age groups.”

“We have a netted playground and kids’ ropes course at the children’s area consisting of 22 obstacles. A state-of-the-art GRP squid tentacle surrounds it. Right across from the Kids’ Rope Course is a whale-theme playground with a 50 person capacity, where the youngest kids can play in a harness-free, fully protected environment.

“The adult and teen zones form a spiral of activities inspired by the shape of the beautiful Muricid shells found around the coastlines of Hainan. A Walltopia adventure trail made of “sea bubbles” surrounds these zones. Visitors can crawl between the bubbles through net tunnels.

“In the Hub, we also incorporated a high ropes course with 28 obstacles of various difficulty levels, a Fun Walls zone with sea-life-themed interactive climbing walls designed especially for Ocean Flower,  a 48 meters long exploration cave, and slides. Đžn top of the structure is a 150 m Gravity Rollglider, to spike the adrenaline even in the bravest participants.”

Proud and happy

Valya Krasteva, also of Walltopia China adds “Seeing it open today, we are very proud of our work, and we are happy that Evergrande chose Walltopia to design and build an attraction facility of this size.

“The trending active entertainment activities combined in a single-themed structure with a storyline, are a perfect example of what we can do. No other company in our industry today can create such complex and monumental projects.”
