Following success in LA, the celebration of sneaker culture will open in Seoul this April

Gushcloud and SL Experiences have announced that the Sneakertopia pop-up sneaker experience will be opening in Asia. Building on the success of the initial venue in Los Angeles, Sneakertopia, which is described by the organisers as “One part pop art gallery, one part insanely huge sneaker closet” will launch in Seoul, South Korea in April 2022.

Sneakertopia also recently held a pop-up at Chongqing Jiebeifang International Consumer Festival in China.

Celebrating sneaker culture

The pop-up experience celebrates sneaker culture and the footwear loved by artists, musicians and athletes around the world. Guests will be able to discover rare kicks as well as interactive street art that takes inspiration from sneaker culture across sport, music, art, fashion and more.

Following its stint in Seoul, Sneakertopia will tour North and Southeast Asia.

The concept is the brainchild of Emmy Award-winning producer Steve Harris and Silicon Valley Tech entrepreneur Steve Brown, who wanted to celebrate their love of the iconic footwear and share this with audiences around the world.

“Sneakertopia Asia is a dream that our team has been developing for years. We’ve had great success bonding over our love for sneakers in Los Angeles, and we wanted to bring this celebration over to Asia where a lot of people share the same passion,” says Harris.

“Although we’ve had a few bumps in the road with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is still a great demand for offline experiences and we want people to experience and appreciate the transformative culture of sneakers.”

Digital hybrid experiences

In the wake of COVID-19, audiences still want to enjoy in-person experiences together, as Ross Leo, co-founder of SL Experiences explains:

“Even amidst the COVID-19 closures we have seen the huge pent up demand for offline experiences, be it through retail or attractions. Although the dependency in online and digital usage is undeniable, great offline experiences which incorporate elements of digital components like Sneakertopia will further increase visitors’ experience and enjoyment.”

Sneakertopia also makes use of the latest technology, such as AR integration, creating a digital hybrid event that will immerse visitors in the experience.

“As we’ve seen over the years, it’s not just about the products anymore. The experience economy is booming and now is the perfect time for Gushcloud to be at the forefront of driving this trend further in the East and the West,” says Althea Lim, CEO of Gushcloud International.

“With Sneakertopia in Asia, we hope to bring in more experiences that people will love and that will shape the future of the experience economy in Asia.”
