Innovations in projection technology have been on show in Barcelona

Panasonic Connect, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has been demonstrating a range of new products this week at a leading trade show.

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2022 is currently taking place in Barcelona and the company has launched new technology during the event, including new 4,000lm Solid Shine Laser LCD Projectors, the PressIT360 video conferencing solution, two new 20,000lm projectors: 3-Chip DLP and LCD and the new EQ2 Series of professional 4K LCD displays.

In addition to this, Panasonic Connect’s technology has been used as part of a spectacular new installation at Gaudí’s iconic Casa Batlló in the city.

New projection tech

At ISE 2022, Panasonic Connect presented two new series of LCD projectors designed for school classrooms and business conference rooms. The Panasonic PT-LMZ460 Series allows users to start presenting instantly with Quick Startup, while also benefitting from better than Full HD resolution for sharp pictures and a 1.2x zoom lens and brightness of up to 4,600lm at Native WUXGA.

The short-throw Panasonic PT-TMZ400 Series, with up to 4,000lm brightness at WUXGA, is also ideal for smaller museums and digital signage. The refined optical design and efficient SOLID SHINE Laser light source in both projector series reduces energy consumption, waste and maintenance. Both will be available from September 2022.

The team at ISE 2022 also unveiled its new PT-RQ25K Projector Series. This four model line-up includes the world’s smallest and lightest 20,000lm, 4K, 3-Chip DLP projector with immersive image quality. The PT-RQ25K Series will be released in September 2022. Plus, it revealed the world’s smallest, lightest and quietest 20,000lm PT-MZ20K LCD Projector, which will be available in December 2022.

Finally, Panasonic Connect has also been showcasing the new EQ2 Series of professional 4K LCD displays, designed for corporate buildings and classrooms.

This series offers high visibility, durability and a host of useful connectivity features in six screen sizes (86/75/65/55/50/43-inch). It also supports the Intel SDM (Smart Display Module) specification slot, which can be used with the receiver board version of Panasonic Connect’s wireless presentation system, PressIT. The displays will be available sequentially from the Summer onwards.

Immersive & collaborative solutions

“The ability to collaborate and create with freedom, wherever you are, has never been more important,” says Hartmut Kulessa, European marketing manager for Panasonic Visual Solutions.

“As a result, we are focused on providing the most immersive and collaborative 4K AV solutions for business, education and entertainment. We are already the only manufacturer in the world to offer a 4K portfolio that includes displays ranging up to 98″, and projectors up to 50,000 lumens, and our additional innovative new products announced today will only enhance our reputation as the 4K provider of choice.”

Multisensory experience at Casa Batlló

Elsewhere in Barcelona, Casa Batlló has reinvented various spaces across the building using Panasonic Connect technology.

The Gaudí Dome room uses 36 Panasonic Connect projectors (PT-RZ660 and PT-JS200 models) and a dome with more than 1,000 screens to give visitors a glimpse into the mind of a young Gaudí. Through this multisensory experience, the natural universe that inspired him comes to life. Thanks to their ultra-short throw lenses, the projectors allow video to be projected onto surfaces that are difficult to map with any other technology and that ensure visitors cannot inadvertently block the projected image.

Meanwhile, in the attic, VR projections show what life was like for the building’s domestic staff. Out in the courtyard, projection mapping creates a continuous waterfall at night time. To achieve this seven PT-RS20K laser projectors deliver vivid and lifelike images with 20,000 lumens of brightness, mapped specifically to the location using Panasonic ET-D3LEF70 fisheye lenses.

“We wanted to excite the visitor by amplifying the magic of the legacy that Antoni Gaudí left us,” says Gary Gautier, CEO of Casa Batlló. “We have equipped different spaces with invisible AV technologies, integrating them in a respectful way into the environment, which was a major challenge in a World Heritage Site.”

Oriol Massague, field marketing manager at Panasonic Connect, adds:

“Most museums and historic buildings were not built with immersive experiences in mind but Panasonic projectors and lenses are able to deliver the best possible immersive experience in rooms of any size or shape, with low or high ceilings. It enables visitors to approach the content without casting any shadows, ensuring that the technology never distracts from the immersive experience.”

Recently, Panasonic Connect’s Chad Kunimoto wrote for blooloop on the topic of how the company’s technology helped to deliver the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
