Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), the company behind ROAMEO, has plans to take its robotic officers to Florida.

Robot security guards are set to make their debut at theme parks in the US, with ROAMEO (Rugged Observation Assistance Mobile Electronic Officer) heading to Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), the company behind ROAMEO, has plans to take its robotic employees to Florida, home to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort (via Fortune).

The autonomous bot has cameras, speakers, a touch screen and a two-way communication system. It can tell when visitors are in restricted areas and determine when guests are not wearing face coverings.

Additionally, it can provide information on wait times for rides, and give directions to attractions. ROAMEO is designed as a supplement to human security guards and will not replace them.

Robotic Assistance Devices plans to deploy 100 robot guards this year. The company told the Orlando Sentinel that it is now in talks with theme park companies in Orlando.

In December, RAD received an order for a ROAMEO 2.0 from a California-based casino operator. “Last month we showed ROAMEO to many potential clients, it was a huge public launch,” said Steve Reinharz, CEO.

“The fact that we’ve been able to secure a major casino operator with a ROAMEO order just three weeks later is phenomenal,” Reinharz added.

“Our sales pipeline is loaded with other gaming and attraction industry prospects and that we discovered during ROAMEO’s recent roadshow,” said Mark Folmer, RAD’s president and COO.

“They’re telling us that they’re ready for a smart, affordable solution that performs like ROAMEO, we’re more than happy to oblige them,” he added.
