RWS Global, a leading producer of live experiences, has shared details of its recent collaboration with Videlio Events, part of Videlio Group, an audio-video services specialist.
The Paris 2024 Organising Committee appointed the two organisations to deliver the in-venue sport presentation programme for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. This encompassed all 37 competition venues and 54 sports.
Unprecedented sport programming
Paris 2024 offered the most extensive and innovative sport presentation programme of any worldwide sporting event, and RWS Global and Videlio Events supplied a platform for the world’s greatest athletes to compete on the world’s biggest stage, before millions of people.
Over 11.5 million tickets were sold for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Each of its venues offered a distinctive atmosphere, created by Videlio Events and RWS Global who led the lighting, audio, music cues, and video board visuals for all athletic events and victory ceremonies.
The sport presentation experience was driven by PV4, a centralised video and graphics playback system from RWS Global that enables the real-time, dynamic compilation of video, graphics, text and third-party game data to provide a best-in-class audience experience.
Using this system, the teams from RWS Global and Videlio Events could reduce the number of on-site operators needed while keeping fans engaged and informed at all times, using athlete portraits, team logos, and live statistics.
Frederic Redondo, sales director, Videlio Events, says: “We were tasked with developing the Paris 2024 game presentation at an impressive, unrivalled scale and our work was deeply inspired by the culture, passion, history and people of Paris. We were so proud to implement this special program for our country and the world, on behalf of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, alongside our wonderful partners at RWS Global.
“The strength of this technological feat was undeniably achieved through shared understanding and incredible teamwork between the Videlio Events and RWS Global staff, who together delivered historic results and set the bar high for future organizing committees.”
Scott Horton, executive vice president, sports, RWS Global, says: “The Paris 2024 Organising Committee’s bold vision to create an unprecedented program, along with a willingness to explore fresh ideas and new technologies, set a new standard for attendance and fan engagement; our PV4 technology and first-rate showcalling helped them deliver a first-class program on each and every day of competition, across 37 venues.
“For our sixth Olympics, we were honored to deliver unforgettable fan experiences in every venue alongside our partners at Videlio Events.”
Estimated $1m cost saving
Key figures for RWS Global and Videlio Events’ sport presentation delivery at Paris 2024 include:
- 7,000+ hours of in-venue content created, driven by 235,000 director cues through PV4.
- 2,000+ music tracks curated and programmed.
- 40+ original compositions in a new suite for the ‘Symphony of Sport’ project.
- 878 victory ceremonies and the distribution of more than 4,700 medals throughout the Paris 2024 programme.
- 12,415 Olympic and Paralympic athlete headshots, taken in a brand-new initiative.
- 700 staff members delivered sport presentations, 450 of whom were French. More than 50 positions were filled through the Paris 2024 Legacy Academy training programme in collaboration with local organisations Sports Management School and Studio M.
- 70 PV4 operators, sport producers, content programmers and global support staff. This amounts to one-third of the requirements of other platforms and represents a saving of over $1 million for the Organising Committee.
This was the sixth Olympic Games in which the RWS Global team provided sport presentation services, and the first in collaboration with Videlio Events.
Earlier this month. RWS Global announced the opening of a new office in Shanghai as part of its continued expansion into location-based entertainment experiences (LBE) in Asia.
