The Netherlands’ number one theme park – and now number three in Europe – has gone from strength to strength under Fons Jurgens’ leadership. Entertaining almost 5.5 million annual guests and with an attractive, expanding accommodation offer, its strategy to become an international destination is clearly paying off.
Jurgens was appointed to the role of managing director in 2014 after previously serving as director of operations. He is currently in the midst of a €36 million investment programme that is set to see the arrival of two new roller coasters and an 8 hectare park expansion.
Ahead of that, Efteling recently added its 30th fairytale, the Six Swans, to the Sprokjesbos (Fairytale Forest) at the heart of the park. While many theme parks and attractions talk about story, Efteling still delivers it better than most.
