Ron Martin is the director of Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL), a division of Panasonic Research and Development in Japan and administered by Panasonic North America. PHL is involved in image capture, processing and display for all sectors of the entertainment industry, including studio production and themed entertainment.
For more than 20 years, Panasonic has worked with Disney’s parks, experiences and products division. “Disney Imagineers are able to take technology and push it to new heights, and we’re thrilled to work with Disney to help bring amazing experiences to their guests,” Martin said.
“With experience-driven storytelling, you can build on the foundation of a cinema experience, take the guest inside the story and let them be part of it. The technology must be invisible. It is present, and you feel its effects, but its role is to bring you into the story and take you into a new dimension.”
Panasonic collaborated with Disney on the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to once again provide Panasonic’s cutting-edge projection technology for a new Disney Parks attraction, especially for the first-ever ride-through Mickey Mouse attraction,” Martin said.
