The American Dream Miami mall has been granted preliminary approval.  The $3 billion retail theme park near Miami Lakes and Hialeah will be a larger version of Mall of America.

The 6 million sq ft development would allocate 1.5 million sq ft for entertainment attractions, including an amusement park, an indoor ski slope, submarine rides and an enclosed water park.

Triple Five, owner of the Mall of America, expects 30 million visitors a year and sees American Dream Miami as an opportunity for Miami-Dade to attract tourists away from Orlando.
