Avengers Campus is opening to the public today (June 4) at Disneyland Resort in California after being unveiled by Marvel stars.

Avengers Campus is opening to the public today (June 4) at Disney’s California Adventure. “We’re going to give you super powers,” said Brent Strong, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering.

“There’s not a kid who has read a comic or watched a TV show or watched a movie who hasn’t walked away wishing they could sling webs, and we’re going to make that happen for every single guest.

“The new technology can render a virtual web coming directly out of your wrist and into that world without touching an interface. It’s as close to being Spider-Man as you can get, and it’s really cool.”

The immersive land combines innovation and storytelling, with visitors able to enjoy an animatronic Spider-Man flying through the air and the new ride, Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations, each hosted by a different Avenger. The Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) houses Web Slingers, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature Spidey.

Web Slingers riders will team up with Spider-Man to capture Spider-Bots before they destroy the Avengers Campus. Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker for the attraction. The Web Power Band will let visitors customise their experience.

At the heart of the land is Avengers Headquarters, an iconic building crowned with a Quinjet. Looming above the area is Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, which opened in 2017.

The Ancient Sanctum visitors will learn Doctor Strange’s secrets and discover magical artefacts before heading to some of the land’s dining spots, which include the Pym Test Kitchen and Pym Tasting Lab.

The Pym Test Kitchen will serve F&B such as Impossible plant-based meatballs, and visitors can enjoy craft beers and cocktail experiments at the Pym Tasting Lab. New food carts include Shawarma Palace and Terran Treats.

“We looked for clever ways to offer food slightly different than what most guests would expect in a theme park,” said Jeremiah Balogh, culinary director at Disneyland Resort. “I think we have done just that with all of our food and beverage offerings at Avengers Campus.”

Avengers Campus retail outlets include the Avengers Campus Supply Pod and Web Suppliers, as well as the Backlot Premiere Shop featuring Avengers Campus.

“At WEB Suppliers, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade is showcasing some of its latest technology and inventions so that our recruits can gear up and practice for their next mission at Avengers Campus and beyond,” said Caroline May, creative director at WDI.

“This is going to be the largest assembly of these heroes anyplace, anytime, anywhere,” said Dan Fields, executive creative director for Disney Parks Live Entertainment. “Avengers Campus is a place for them to live, work, play, protect and train.”
