Serengeti Flyer at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has unveiled its latest thrill ride, with the Serengeti Flyer pendulum-style swing set to open in spring 2023.

Located in the park’s Nairobi area, Serengeti Flyer is the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind. Riders will soar above Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s 65-acre Serengeti Plain “while experiencing multiple negative-G moments”, the park said.

Serengeti Flyer will have twin duelling arms that gradually rise higher and reach speeds of 68 mph and a maximum height of 135 feet at the ride’s peak. Guests will be seated back-to-back in two gondolas.

“Serengeti Flyer’s thrilling ride experience is bound to provide riders with a pulse-pounding encounter that can only be found at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay,” said Neal Thurman, park president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

“We believe that Serengeti Flyer will be the perfect high-thrill addition to our world-class portfolio of attractions.”

The new attraction will be similar to Finnegan’s Flyer at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and the new Tidal Surge at SeaWorld San Antonio.

Earlier this year, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay opened Iron Gwazi, the world’s fastest and steepest hybrid coaster.

SeaWorld Entertainment continues to invest in new rides. SeaWorld San Diego is launching Arctic Rescue, the fastest and longest straddle coaster on the West Coast, in 2023.

SeaWorld Entertainment’s new attractions

SeaWorld Orlando recently confirmed that it has started work on its seventh roller coaster, which will also open in 2023. Also coming next year is SeaWorld San Antonio’s Catapult Falls, the world’s first launched flume coaster.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced that the world’s first all-indoor straddle coaster, DarKoaster, is opening in 2023. Elsewhere, Miral confirmed that SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will make its debut in 2023

These new additions follow the recent launches of Emperor at SeaWorld San Diego, Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando, and Pantheon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
