The Diggerland theme park in Devon is reopening to visitors on 28 May 2022 after closing in September 2021 for the “foreseeable future” as a result of the pandemic. Ahead of the launch, Diggerland is investing in new equipment.
“Almost a year since closing its doors, Diggerland bosses have made the decision to reopen and inject new life into the park, investing in new equipment, management and staff training, further enhancing the overall customer experience,” Diggerland said.
The attraction in Cullompton said it has received “an overwhelming plea from our loyal fans to reopen and after much deliberation, bosses of the previously very popular Devon theme park carefully took into account all factors and decided that having come out the other side of the pandemic, now would be a great time to open the doors again”.
Last year, a representative for Diggerland said (via ITV): “It is with deep regret that due to circumstances beyond our control we must close the Diggerland park located in Devon.”

“This decision has most definitely not been an easy one to make,” the representative added.
“It most definitely has not been easy but the vast majority of our staff have been amazing during this difficult time.”
Diggerland, a construction machinery park, has four sites in the UK – in Kent, Yorkshire, Durham and Devon. Diggerland USA recently expanded with The Water Main, a two-acre outdoor aquatic park.
Ilya Girlya, president and co-CEO at Diggerland USA, spoke to blooloop earlier this year. “We have talked about the possibility of opening further Diggerlands nationally,” he said.
“But I think we really like the fact that all of our energy is focused on our one location here, so we’re able to give it our 100 percent attention,” Girlya added.
