Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment are hard at work creating Harmonious, which is part of the historic transformation of EPCOT.
Imagineering’s Walt Disney World site portfolio executive Zach Riddley shared more about Harmonious in a post on the Disney Parks Blog.
“Early in our plans for the transformation of EPCOT, we recognized the power and potential this new show has to tell a story of global connection and celebration,” wrote Riddley.
“This grand, original spectacular is a tribute to the power of story and song that unite us, leveraging music and visuals from across Disney and artists around the world.”

Disney Live Entertainment’s technical designers have been busy programming various elements of the nighttime spectacular, including media, fountains, lighting and pyrotechnics.
“Our music producers at Walt Disney Imagineering have been remotely directing recording sessions with an incredibly diverse array of musical artists, performing in studios around the world,” added Riddley.
Disney is currently “setting the stage” for Harmonious, also working on the show’s five floating platforms on World Showcase Lagoon.
The platforms will house the primary show equipment for Harmonious. The central platform has six storeys on its ring structure, which supports a high-density water curtain, moving lights and fountains.

Harmonious is in the early stages of development. It was originally scheduled to launch in 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19.
Disney’s largest nighttime spectacular will play nightly over Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon. It replaces Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, which ran between 1999 and 2019.
Walt Disney World Resort previously announced that it will be marking its 50th anniversary with ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration’ from October 1.
Spaceship Earth (Epcot), Cinderella Castle (Magic Kingdom), Tree of Life (Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and Hollywood Tower Hotel (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) will become ‘Beacons of Magic’.
