Gold Rush coaster will offer a unique ride experience

Drayton Manor has unveiled its new coaster for this year. Called ‘Gold Rush’, the ride will open on 26 July as part of the new Frontier Falls land.

The park in Staffordshire, UK describes the new coaster as the world’s first to feature “two unique multi-directional experiences”, which means that riders will not know which route they will take once seated.

Victoria Lynn, managing director at Drayton Manor, said (via BirminghamLive): “We’ve been so excited to share the full extent of our new Wild West-themed land since the opening of Frontier Falls this spring.

“The arrival of Gold Rush plays a key part in our biggest year yet, promising a unique experience unlike anything our guests have experienced before. We can’t wait to see what our visitors think of it this summer.”

Last year, Drayton Manor exclusively revealed to blooloop that it had been working with Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, on a new family-friendly thrill coaster.

“This ride is a key part of the incredibly exciting investments coming to the park over the next few years. We can’t wait for our guests to experience this attraction, which we believe will be one of the best family thrill roller coasters in the UK,” said Lynn.

Wild West-themed experiences

The first coaster to be added to Drayton Manor since 2011 is part of a multimillion-pound investment plan, continuing the park’s development under the ownership of the Looping Group.

As for Frontier Falls, the Wild West-themed land opened in March and is a frontier-style town of cowboys and outlaws with daily shoot-outs.

Attractions include the Falls Theatre, a state-of-the-art 4D venue offering a Looney Tunes show featuring Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner.

The Blasting Barrels & Co ride is a Western twist on the classic teacup ride, while Sheriff’s Showdown is an interactive shoot-out ride.
