Ardent Leisure’s Dreamworld theme park has announced a new land and roller coaster as part of an A$50 million investment in new attractions and upgraded areas.

Opening in late 2024, Rivertown will be a new themed environment offering a world-class coaster called Jungle Rush.

Designed and built by Vekoma Rides, the A$35m ride will feature the world’s first inclined turntable and 12 airtime elements.

Vintage Cars Adventure will also be relocated to Rivertown and redesigned with new vehicles to become Murrissippi Motors.

Following the development of Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland, the land currently occupied by ABC Kids and The Wiggles World will be transformed into a new themed environment called Rivertown.

Rivertown will be found on the land currently occupied by ABC Kids and The Wiggles World, with all of the park’s children’s attractions moving to a new A$15m area called Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland.

Launching in 2023, this will replace the current DreamWorks location and will house reimagined and relocated attractions, as well as two new rides.

Dreamworld’s upcoming developments also include the new family-friendly Wave Swinger ride, opening in 2023. Additionally, the existing Ocean Parade precinct is being expanded and will include a new themed splash zone.

A$50 million investment in new attractions

Earlier this year, Dreamworld operator Ardent Leisure announced its theme parks CEO Greg Yong as group CEO. This came after Ardent Leisure sold its family entertainment company Main Event to Dave & Buster’s.

“Since being appointed as theme parks and attractions CEO in April 2021, Greg has shown outstanding leadership and is highly regarded by the board and all of the team members he leads,” said Ardent Leisure chairman Gary Weiss (via Business News Australia).

Village Roadshow’s Sea World, also located on Queensland’s Gold Coast, is launching its new Atlantis-themed precinct on 2 December. The land includes a wooden coaster and Australia’s tallest slide tower.
