Big wheel Mega Parc

With over half the work completed on the $52 million project to overhaul the Quebec attraction, Galeries de la Capitale gives a glimpse of the new Méga Parc.

The 30-year old indoor amusement park set in the Galeries de la Capitale shopping mall is currently in the middle of an extreme makeover.  It is being reimagined as a surreal 19th century steampunk world, inspired by Jules Verne’s interpretation of the Industrial Revolution.

Some rides will be retained but the majority will be replaced.  Amongst the new attractions is Zénith, a spectacular spokeless Ferris wheel, a first in North America.  A new rollercoaster, designed and built by Extreme Engineering, will actually go through the wheel.  It’s another first for North America.

Steampunk revamps

Méga Parc  is the only indoor amusement park in eastern Canada.  Over 40 workers have been on site, working late into the evening, to keep the new look park on schedule.  Four existing rides – Force G, Carrousel, Électro, and Condor – are being upgraded and also given a new steampunk look.

14 all-new attractions are being introduced.  Spokeless Ferris wheel Zénith can carry 96 people.  It’s joined by dark ride Cortex, alongside Télégraphe, Pendule, Piston, Pare-chocs, Convoyeur, Arsenal, Centrale, Hélix, and Mini-mousse.  There is also a new games arcade with over 40 interactive games. In addition, the park boasts the longest indoor skating trail in Canada.
