Israel’s Ministry of Tourism has announced a new theme park called Negev Park to boost tourism in the country’s southern region.

The $15 million theme park will include several hotels, as well as restaurants and retail. There are also plans to build a new airport nearby, positioning the park as a major tourist destination for overseas visitors.

The theme park is described as Israel’s version of Disneyland Paris, with the tourism ministry hoping to attract 10 million visitors to the region by 2030.

Negev Park will be located near Beersheba and Hatzerim, according to the Times of Israel. The tourism ministry has invited bids from investors.

Negev Park to increase tourism

Rubik Danilovich, the mayor of Beersheba, said the Negev metropolis “is becoming Israel’s new ‘in-demand area’ in terms of tourism, recreation and leisure”.

In addition to hotels and shopping and dining facilities, Danilovich said the attraction will include water attractions and world-class rides.

“We have a huge space for leading a unique tourism unlike any other in Israel and we are happy about the opportunity to bring the tourists to our region to get to know one of the most beautiful places in the country,” said Nir Zamir, leader of the Bnei Shimon Regional Council.

Elsewhere, Saraya Aqaba Waterpark opened last year as Aqaba’s first world-class water park and the largest water park in Jordan.

Palestine’s first theme park, called Hayat Canaan, has been proposed for the West Bank. Paving the way for the development will be a dining and entertainment district.
