Sixteen major projects are currently being designed or constructed

Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has underlined a number of its ongoing projects in the Asian continent, during the lead-up to IAAPA Expo next month.

The firm has established itself as a key participant in the global recovery of the tourism sector, with Legacy sharing that it is currently celebrating its biggest year since the brand was unveiled.

Legacy’s four owners have been reflecting on the firm’s milestone year and compelling developments yet to debut.

“With six projects under construction, and another ten in various stages of design, we are happy to announce that Legacy has continued to hold onto its place as Asia’s leading entertainment design firm for yet another fantastic year,” says president and chief creative officer Taylor Jeffs.

Capitalising on spending power

According to the Legacy executives, Vietnam has recently become one of the company’s most crucial markets. With five major destinations currently in the works, Legacy has continued to be in high demand among the country’s largest developers following the attention-grabbing debut of The Sea Shell Aquarium at VinWonders Theme Park in April, which the company designed working with Polin Aquariums.

“Much like our work in Indonesia, our projects in Vietnam often require creative solutions by which our clients can offer their guests world-class experiences where the spending power of the consumer might be less than in more-developed tourism markets,” said Legacy’s chief operating officer Barry Kemper. “Very often, these budget-conscious experiences can meet or exceed their world-class counterparts, located elsewhere around the world.”

Taking on creative challenges

Even with China’s borders still being closed, Legacy has made progress in this crucial market. The company has recently created a number of major projects that have not yet been publicly disclosed, including one that is based on a well-known vehicle brand worldwide and another that is based on a popular video game.

Legacy recently won international design competitions to develop new locations for OCT’s most extensive and ambitious resort, as well as Enlight, China’s largest private film and television studio.

The brand-new Lotte World Adventure Busan Theme Park in South Korea, another stronghold for Legacy, has performed incredibly well. In fact, it has done so well that Legacy has been working on new Dark Ride and Parade concepts for the chain’s flagship park in Seoul.

As a result of this success, Legacy has also been hired as an entertainment consultant for a significant South Korean development scheduled to open in late 2024.

Marcus King, Legacy’s chief projects officer says: “While we cannot give specifics at this moment about the major new South Korean project we are now actively designing, our upcoming work there has no benchmark.

“Our team has taken on the great creative challenge of pioneering something completely new – something that is guaranteed to shock and amaze audiences all around the globe.”

In addition to other parts of Asia, Legacy’s work continues to be enjoyed in Indonesia, where it has historically built three theme parks, two malls, and two ‘E-ticket’ dark rides.

“Continually humbled”

Following the successful opening of the new Trans Studio Theme Parks, one of the largest developers in the nation approached Legacy to act as the entertainment consultant for PIK 2, a brand-new city the size of San Francisco that is being constructed close to Jakarta.

Legacy’s managing director Eric Carnagey adds: “The secret behind Legacy’s rapid growth and enduring success is simpler than one might think.

“We don’t simply design things or environments. We design and deliver ideas. The alchemy of our dreamers and designers cannot be duplicated. We are continually humbled and thrilled that the uniqueness of our products has been, and remains, recognised and valued by dozens of the world’s top developers and biggest entertainment brands.”

Earlier this year, Legacy Entertainment also celebrated award recognition for Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, which was named Most Popular Attraction.
