Shanghai Disney Resort Reveals Float for 2015 Shanghai Tourism Festival

Shanghai Disney Resort has unveiled its design for a new parade float for the grand opening parade at the 2015 Shanghai Tourism Festival.

The ‘Igniting The Dream’ float takes the form of the resort’s iconic Enchanted Storybook Castle and features a giant Chinese lantern. There will be live entertainment to accompany it as well as six additional carts designed to echo the six themed lands that will feature in the Shanghai Disneyland theme park. The whole experience will weave distinctive Chinese elements with classic Disney storytelling to create a taste of what guests can expect at the new resort which is scheduled to open in Spring 2016.

“With less than one year before the grand opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, we are thrilled to participate in this tourism festival and to demonstrate our commitment to bring the best of Disney experiences to the people of China, ” commented Philippe Gas, General Manager, Shanghai Disney Resort.

Mickey Mouse and a cast of popular Disney characters will ride aboard the float, while dancers will perform to a song specially written for the event by Chinese artists.

“We are proud to represent Disney’s immersive world-class entertainment to local residents and millions of TV viewers across China, sharing with them the resort promise – Ignite the dreams within their hearts, ” added Gas.

Last year, the Shanghai Disney Resort “Happy Dream” float was awarded the “Most Popular Float of the Year, scooping the highest number of votes from a public poll.
