Six Flags New England is to launchthe world's first Mixed Reality experience: theGalactic Attack Virtual Reality Coaster, on April 10th.
Six Flags has worked with Samsung toadd a virtual reality layer to the park's 20 year old iconic steel coaster, Mind Eraser. The coaster is also being refitted with new restraints to make for a more comfortable ride.Initially Samsung Gear VR headsets' passthrough camera allows riders to see the person seated next to them and surroundings augmented with virtual content like weapon and fuel status and a countdown . After climbingthe lift hill the view switches to virtual realityas riders plunge towards a wormhole and into an immersive space battle from the cockpit of a fighter spaceship. The ride can end in one of three drone bays offering different gaming experiences.
