Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium offers guest security and convenience with The Locker Network

The world renowned Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Illinois has installed an electronic locker system from The Locker network.

The Locker Network has completed another successful aquarium installation with the addition of its electronic locker system at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. The aquarium upgraded its existing keyed lockers with 304 keyless lockers. They were installed free of charge via The Locker Network’s revenue share program. Shedd Aquarium will also receive ongoing revenues from locker sales. The day-to-day operation and management of the system will be handled by The Locker Network.

The electronic locker system offers security and convenience

Meghan Curran is Senior Vice President of Shedd Aquarium. She said, “This new installation is a direct response to the changing needs of our guests. The new lockers allow us to modernize our experience, while still ensuring security.”

Shedd Aquarium is one of the most visited aquariums in the U.S. The aquarium, which is on the shores of Lake Michigan, allows visitors the opportunity to discover aquatic creatures and habitats representing wildlife from across the world.

An indoor public aquarium in Chicago, The Shedd Aquarium was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Its home is the Museum Campus Chicago. The campus also houses both the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History. The most popular cultural attraction in the city, it is almost ninety years old, having opened in 1930.

There are various permanent exhibits at Shedd. These include the Abbott Oceanarium, where visitors can have close encounters with beluga whales, dolphins, sea otters, sea lions and penguins. There is also the 90,000-gallon Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising. This is an exhibit recreating a year in the life of the Amazon River basin. In addition the Polar Play Zone is an interactive attraction designed specifically for children.
