Fashion Museum Bath has received a funding boost, with £7 million approved for the new museum and the wider Milsom Quarter regeneration project.
Bath & North East Somerset Council said the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority investment will support delivery of Fashion Museum Bath and the Milsom Quarter public realm scheme.
The new museum will be housed in Bath city centre's Grade II-listed Old Post Office, with architecture practice 6a architects appointed to design the building.

Planning permission and listed building consent were granted earlier this year, with the museum expected to open in 2030 and construction set to begin in 2027.
The wider Milsom Quarter regeneration includes plans to improve public spaces, walking and cycling routes and create a new public square.
Councillor Kevin Guy, leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: "This investment marks another major milestone in securing the future of Fashion Museum Bath and delivering our vision for the Milsom Quarter.
"The museum will be much more than a world-class cultural attraction. It will be a catalyst for regeneration, bringing new opportunities for local people, supporting businesses, creating jobs and attracting visitors from across the UK and around the world."

Spanning more than 400 years of fashion history, the museum will house a collection of more than 100,000 objects. The project aims to establish Fashion Museum Bath as the UK's leading fashion museum.
Fashion Museum Bath is projected to attract more than 250,000 visitors each year and generate at least £111 million in economic and social value across the West of England.
The £39 million project is also expected to provide placements, apprenticeships and work experience in creative, heritage and technical careers.
Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, said: "Fashion Museum Bath will become a top destination for visitors from near and far."
