Suntago Water World: inside Europe’s largest indoor water park

Idan Greidinger, CEO of Park of Poland, on the water park’s recent additions and future plans

Suntago Water World, a one-of-a-kind indoor water park, is the first phase of the Park of Poland resort development. Spanning a total area of 20 hectares, it can host up to 15,000 visitors daily, making it the largest indoor water park on the continent.

Park of Poland itself spans nearly 400 hectares. In addition to Suntago Water World (Suntago Wodny Świat), which opened early 2020, the site features Suntago Village, consisting of 102 bungalows. Plans for the future include constructing a 4-star hotel.

Suntago Water World is divided into three themed zones, including Jamango Water Jungle, home to water slides, lazy rivers, a wave pool, a surfing simulator, and an indoor and outdoor water park playground. Meanwhile, the Relax area features a spa with a thermal pool, a jacuzzi, and hydromassage, as well as a sulfur pool and saltwater pools.

Finally, the Saunaria zone offers a total of 15 saunas and a steam room, each centred around its own unique theme.

To learn more about the water park, including recent additions and future developments, we speak with Idan Greidinger, CEO of Park of Poland.

The Suntago Water World experience

Opened in February 2020, Suntago Water World launched during a turbulent time in global tourism. Like many businesses, it faced a challenging period during the pandemic and was closed for a total of 10 months. However, with resilience and determination, the park has rebounded, focusing on the present and the bright future ahead.

Idan Greidinger, CEO of Park of Poland

Five years on, it enjoys solid attendance figures and has introduced new additions, such as the Crocodile Island area, keeping visitors coming back for more. When asked to describe the Suntago experience in a few words, and what he feels makes the experience unique, Greidinger says:

“Tropics in the heart of Europe, and precisely in central Poland! Relax and have fun in 32 °c and surrounded by real palm trees, all at your fingertips, without the need for long trips. Adrenaline on 35 slides, a pool with an artificially generated wave, and a surfing machine under the roof are just some of the attractions in the Suntago Water World located just 30 minutes from the airport and the capital of Poland, Warsaw.”

A visit offers both adrenaline and relaxation, he adds, depending on what guests want from their day out. “They will find adrenaline in the slides, as well as a wave pool, an adventure river, and a rushing river.”

Highlights include Viper, measuring 256 metres, the high-speed Teleport, the thrilling Kraken, and the 8-lane Rainbow Race.

Elsewhere, for relaxation, guests over 16 years of age can use the Relax with Wellness & SPA and Saunaria zones:

“They will find 15 saunas from different parts of the world, wet and dry, a salt cave, a snow Mont Blanc, or a spectacular calla shower. We offer 14 massage rooms, where you can select a treatment or massage tailored to your needs. Or simply swim in a huge pool.”

Crocodile Island

Crocodile Island is a unique, newly created land measuring 1,200 square metres, which opened in January 2025, ready for Poland’s winter school holidays. As a combination of a family entertainment centre and water park, the new land is designed to cater to families and younger guests with games, interactive elements, climbing structures, and surprises.

The new land features four zones with activities for different age groups. Firstly, the boat, an interactive play zone, acts as the entry portal. There is also the beach zone for the youngest guests, offering different play areas, interactive projections, building activities, and a live entertainment stage where they can sing along with mascot Jay.

Meanwhile, the rainforest is an engaging jungle area for older children. It is home to a vast rainforest tree, featuring an educational game where kids can feel, listen, and smell. There is also an interactive projection table, an island-forming game, and a big soft-play structure.

Finally, the ruins are designed for teenagers. Visitors can take part in challenges such as a custom-made reaction game with water sprays, an Eli Play challenge game, and more.

Creative Studio Berlin, the experiential design firm founded by Chris Lange, collaborated closely with the Suntago team on the Crocodile Project from concept to opening.

Lange says: “This project rewrites the rulebook, creating a highly themed, inviting environment at the heart of the waterpark. Crocodile Island is an inviting space where children become the bravest adventurers.

“Together with the team at Park of Poland, we delivered a unique dry space for families to enjoy. Crocodile Island integrates modern technology with quality craftsmanship, creating a themed world that is ripe for guests to discover.”

A gamechanger for Suntago Water World

The project was led with the idea of creating playful worlds in which children can learn through exploration. Sensory and tactile experiences, sometimes blending physical and digital elements, inspire learning through active play.

“It has interactive and educational games and entertainment, as well as a sensory tree thanks to which you get to know the world through touch, smell and sound,” says Greidinger. “There is also a huge ship on which everyone can feel like a captain!”

Speaking about the team’s approach to the project, Dominik Wieland, concept artist and art director at Creative Studio Berlin, says:

“Suntago is a wonderful family-oriented water park with a diverse offering of both high-thrill attractions and relaxation spaces. So, the challenge presented to us was how to expand their attraction portfolio, creating something radically different. With Crocodile Island, we transformed a drab storage area into a play zone with storytelling at its heart, pulling out every trick from our environmental design ‘sleeves’.

Visitors are finally able to immerse themselves in the adventures of the crocodile mascots, Jay & Meggi, with their cartoonish ship – the M.S. Suntago – acting as a compass in the midst of three lush, realistic environments.

“From ancient crocodile ruins and towering tropical trees, all the way to the tranquil beach, Crocodile Island builds upon classical adventure tropes to create an exaggerated environment full to the brim with high-quality, custom elements.

“A custom atmospheric & musical score, hand-painted murals, dense greenery and large-scale décor elements come together to bring a cosy island to the heart of the water park.”

Lange adds: “Crocodile Island is a game-changer for Suntago, with the addition of their first highly themed play space, rooted in the adventures of their cheeky crocodile mascots, Jay and Meggi… allowing children to immerse themselves in Jay & Meggi’s adventurous worlds.”

A year-round immersive experience

Suntago Water World boasts an incredible tropical atmosphere, featuring authentic palm trees and cutting-edge water rides. On the challenge of maintaining that immersive experience year-round, in far-from-tropical Poland, Greidinger says:

“Suntago is a modern water park, which means that we are fully equipped with complex, but also automated systems that allow us to maintain the right temperature or even automatic watering of palm trees. Without modern systems, the task would be difficult.”

Qualified technical staff oversee the technical facilities and automation, and a team of lifeguards oversee safety. “These are the two main aspects that must work efficiently so that our guests have a great time, feel safe and often come back to us.”

Relax Zone Suntago Water World

Sustainability is also a priority for Park of Poland, and the team has taken care to be environmentally friendly in the development and operation of the water park.

“Few people know that Suntago uses its own borehole. This means that we extract thermal water from beneath the Earth’s surface (approximately 1750 m below the surface), which we then purify into pool water and drinking water. The water, therefore, circulates in a single circuit, and appropriate pumps filter and continuously purify the pool water, which our guests use throughout the year.”

A fundamental element of the park’s activities is also waste segregation and the elimination of single-use plastic materials.

New technologies at Suntago Water World

Water parks around the world are increasingly integrating technology to enhance the guest experience, from virtual reality (VR) and interactive water attractions to innovative queuing systems.

“The park already has an NFC system, with wristbands that our guests use to make payments and close/open their lockers,” says Greidinger. “This is just the beginning of the possibilities that are already opening to us.”

“The next important step is to introduce multimedia to the park; holograms and special decor in appropriate places in the park will enhance the immersive nature of the experience, thanks to which our guests will feel like they are in the jungle, the underwater world, or space.

“We want to provide modern solutions; we have been doing this from the very beginning. Two Suntago roofs, weighing over 500 tons each, open based on an advanced technological system, thanks to which it takes 15 minutes, not “eternity.”

“We already have many innovative solutions in the park, but we are not resting on our laurels; we are developing further, so that soon we can call ourselves a multimedia water park, where everyone will find something for themselves.”

Looking to the future

Looking ahead, Suntago Water World will deliver an upgrade to the slide zone.

“We are working on a new version of the slide zone,” says Greidinger. “I can only reveal that we will conquer the magical world to which we invite our guests who are looking for adrenaline and good fun. At the same time, work is underway on multimedia in Suntago and special decorations that will create an atmosphere of a surreal underwater world.”

On how he sees the future of water parks evolving, and where Suntago fits into that picture, he adds:

“We opened five years ago, during which time many smaller entities were established in Poland, which also provide entertainment for the same guests. The choice is vast, but Suntago remains unique due to its scale (the size of the facility) and tropical climate, offering the possibility of having fun all year round, regardless of the weather.

“Nevertheless, a lot of work and investment await us. We must continually develop and raise the bar to remain the best and most recognisable. This is our goal, and it is closely related to a large investment in marketing activities. We are on the right track with both.”

Park of Poland continues to develop

Meanwhile, for the wider Park of Poland project and its long-term vision, Greidinger says:

“Our goal has not changed. This year, we have expanded our accommodation base with the addition of new cottages, bringing our total to 102 bungalows. For larger families, we added the Grand Villa type, which features a fireplace and a private, glazed terrace with a jacuzzi.

“We also plan to start building a hotel soon and continue the work of providing our guests with entertainment at the highest level. We are consistently developing the attractions and offerings of the park, and all our activities are aimed at becoming a leading holiday destination in Central Europe.”

Relaxation Suntago Water World

With its scale, tropical ambience, and commitment to cutting-edge experiences, Suntago Water Park is reshaping expectations for water-based attractions in Europe.

As Park of Poland continues to expand with innovative zones, upgraded slides, and enhanced multimedia experiences, it solidifies its position as a premier year-round destination. With bold plans on the horizon, its goal is to remain a leader in the world of water parks, inviting visitors to escape to paradise, right in the heart of Poland.
