Norwegian Cruise Line has christened its new Norwegian Aqua ship in Miami and announced expansion plans for Great Stirrup Cay, its private island destination.
Norwegian Aqua was christened over the weekend in Miami. The cruise line’s newest ship includes the worldās first hybrid coaster and waterslide, and more innovative attractions.
As for the Great Stirrup Cay expansion, Norwegian Cruise Line‘s private island in the Bahamas will debut new experiences in the fourth quarter of this year.

These include an expansive pool area with a dedicated bar and a splash zone for kids with water fountains and more features.
In addition to the debut of a new multi-ship pier later this year, guests arriving at Great Stirrup Cay will find a new welcome centre and tram service.
The island’s development plans include adding onboard experiences like a new Vibe Beach Club ā an adults-only outdoor lounge with private cabanas and loungers.
Also coming to the island is Horizon Park; a new recreational area that recently launched on two cruise ships, and a new relaxation area and other Tiki-inspired experiences.

“Later this year we will launch new experiences for our guests to enjoy on this already incredible private island,” said David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
“And now with our newest ship, Norwegian Aqua, entering into the market with voyages to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, it is the perfect time to start planning your next warm-weather vacation.”
After a christening voyage, Norwegian Aqua will arrive at Port Canaveral in Florida for a season ofĀ seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailings through August 2025, including a call at Great Stirrup Cay.
From August through October, the ship will sail a series of voyages to Bermuda from New York City before returning to Miami for another season ofĀ seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruisesĀ until April 2026, calling again at Great Stirrup Cay.

Guests will enjoy attractions such as theĀ Aqua SlidecoasterĀ by wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider.
This is the worldās first hybrid roller coaster and waterslide ā offering two unique ride experiences as the longest and fastest slides at sea.
More highlights on the ship include the Glow Court, a cutting-edge digital sports complex by CONDUCTR,Ā the UK-based innovation studio.
