OpenAire is pleased to announce that it will be part of an exciting new waterpark project off Interstate 40 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Complete with a mezzanine-level playground, the 28, 000 square foot Water-Zoo.com Indoor Waterpark is slated to open next year. This will be the area’s first indoor waterpark and will feature a 132’ (40.2m) x 184’ (56.1m) retractable roof enclosure by OpenAire that can be opened in warm weather, offering visitors a wonderful fresh air experience.

Owned by Schumacher Investments South LLC, a Schumacher company, Water-Zoo.com will be part of a large entertainment complex complete with hotels and restaurants. A Holiday Inn Express, also owned by Hotelmacher LLC, will be built beside the waterpark. Area residents and community planners are already excited about the new attraction, and anticipate that it will be an exceptional draw for both locals and visitors.

“The operable roof will allow visitors to enjoy the indoor waterpark year-round, ” says David Bolwerk, Vice President Sales & Marketing, OpenAire. “Walter Schumacher, the owner, did a tremendous amount of homework and due diligence, and chose an operable OpenAire solution because of its unique appeal. Visitors can bask in fresh, warm air in the summer months, and still enjoy lots of natural light when it’s cold or raining. Guests will feel like they are enjoying the great outdoors, no matter what time of year it is.”

Water-Zoo.com will be a great new place for Clinton residents to play, and it also promises to become a popular destination for out-of-town visitors, which will be a boon to the local economy.

The addition of Water-Zoo.com strengthens the portfolio of premier indoor waterparks OpenAire has completed all over the world. Two of the company’s record-breaking projects are now nearing completion: the 40, 000 square foot, 43’ high waterpark at Jay Peak in Vermont will be the tallest that OpenAire has built in North America, and the 86’ (26m) high, 278’ (85m) diameter Royal Marine Aquapark in Donetsk, Ukraine will be the world’s largest free-standing aluminum-domed structure.

“OpenAire really is the ideal solution for waterparks, ” says Bolwerk. “Revenues are never at the mercy of the weather, which dramatically increases profitability. Plus, the structures are eco-friendly and remarkably energy efficient, which translates to significant cost savings when compared with traditional facilities.”

When the weather is warm enough to open the roof, Clinton residents will feel fresh air flooding the building.  Humidity is naturally exhausted through the opening; therefore, dehumidification systems can be turned off, which saves energy. And the polycarbonate roof and insulated glass enclosure lets in plenty of sunlight, which saves on lighting as well.  During the winter months when the roof is closed solar gain naturally warms the enclosure offsetting some of the heating requirements.

The residents of Clinton are looking forward to their exciting new waterpark; construction is underway, with completion planned for 2012.
