OpenAire Explores New Markets as a Member of Ontario’s trade mission to China

Representing the province’s green building sector, OpenAire president Mark Albertine joined talks to tap market in China’s largest cities.

As part of an envoy including Ontario business leaders, Minister of Economic Development and Innovation Brad Duguid and the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Michael Chan, OpenAire president Mark Albertine participated in a series of trade talks in Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing and Chengdu to showcase the province’s expertise and innovation in the clean technology sector. The talks also centered on securing Ontario-China commercial ties and strengthening relationships with China’s leaders of industry.

As a representative for the province’s green building sector, Mark engaged key-decision makers and potential business partners across various industries that included shopping / retail, waterparks and community facilities, highlighting OpenAire’s pioneering technology and project capabilities for retractable roof enclosures.

“It was a privilege being a member-delegate in Ontario’s trade mission to China, which turned out to be a tremendous success, ” Mark said. “Discussions with Chinese industry leaders really brought home the message that small to medium size Canadian enterprises like OpenAire are in prime position for expanding into the Chinese market. The country’s impressive growth in construction and related industries and OpenAire’s newly made connections to major players will enable us to seize opportunities in the near future.”

Ontario’s trade mission to China took place on January 13th to 18th. China is Ontario’s and Canada’s second-largest trading partner in the world. In 2011, two-way trade between Ontario and China totalled $29 billion.
