wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, has announced its second Wiegand Slide Coaster extreme launch, which is set to open on board the new Norwegian Cruise Line ship, Norwegian Luna, in 2026.
This follows the debut of the world's first Wiegand Slide Coaster at sea, which launched on the Norwegian Aqua earlier this year.
Extreme acceleration
Passengers aboard the Norwegian Aqua can enjoy the world's most intense water slide acceleration with the Wiegand Slide Coaster.
Combining a water slide and a roller coaster, the high-speed adventure starts on deck. There is no need for guests to climb stairs or wear tyres; they board the ride, and a powerful propulsion system launches them to the track's highest point.
From there, the 886-foot-long slides continue through stunning curves and tunnel sections filled with vibrant colours and daylight effects. A lazy river then gently guides the boats and their passengers back to the starting point.
The patented propulsion system is based on LSM electromagnetic technology, which is typically used only on major roller coasters.
This technology propels riders to speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h) in just seconds, with acceleration reaching 0.8 g. As a result, the slide delivers a ride sensation previously only found in large amusement parks. Additional light and sound effects make every ride memorable.

In 2026, the Slide Coaster will also thrill speed enthusiasts on Norwegian Aqua's sister ship, the Norwegian Luna.
This marks the most recent addition to wiegand.waterrides's portfolio of projects at sea, which includes more than 20 cruise ships, including the Icon of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world.
Earlier this year, wiegand.waterrides celebrated the first two installations of its new concept, the next-generation Waterplay Towers.
Based on designs purchased from the former Dutch company Van Egdom, the complete water tower structure is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel and powder-coated for enhanced durability.
