Disney Adventure World and its new World of Frozen land have opened at Disneyland Paris as part of a €2 billion expansion of the resort.
Disneyland Paris' reimagined second park, Disney Adventure World, was officially opened on 29 March and represents the most ambitious expansion in the resort's history.
“With Disney Adventure World, we’re not only unveiling a reimagined second gate at Disneyland Paris; we’re opening the door to a new era. An era where our guests walk straight into the heart of the stories they love,” said Natacha Rafalski, présidente of Disneyland Paris.
More than 90 percent of the park's guest experiences have been redesigned since its original debut in 2002, and the theme park's footprint will have roughly doubled when the full transformation is complete.
The overall project includes plans for the first attraction inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Up and a dedicated land celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Lion King.
At the heart of the expansion is World of Frozen, a new immersive land dedicated to the Frozen franchise.
Attractions include Frozen Ever After, a boat ride featuring songs including 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman' and 'Let It Go', and cutting-edge technology such as state-of-the-art audio-animatronic figures, and immersive projections, lighting and sound.
Highlights in World of Frozen also include the Nordic Crowns Tavern restaurant, the Rencontre Royalere Royale experience, and a new Olaf robotic character, which will feature as part of the daily 'A Celebration in Arendelle' show.
“Few stories have resonated with fans around the world like Frozen,” said Josh D’Amaro, Disney's CEO.
“From the screen to our parks, cruises, and beyond, its impact continues to grow, and with World of Frozen and Disney Adventure World, we’re giving guests at Disneyland Paris the opportunity to experience that story in entirely new ways.”
Also open to visitors is Adventure Way, a new main avenue with a new attraction inspired by Tangled, as well as the Adventure Bay lake for a new nighttime spectacular called Disney Cascade of Lights.
“We continue to expand Disneyland Paris with ambition and purpose,” said Thomas Mazloum, chairman of Disney's experiences division.
“The reimagining of our second gate reflects the very best of what Disney represents: boundless imagination that brings people together.”
